As DSport Magazine's ProAM Front-Wheel-Drive class charges to an all-time high, the
racers keep shocking the spectators with quicker ET's and faster top speeds. The
majority of the competitors in the ProAM FWD class choose the Honda Civic platform as
their weapon of choice. However, this weekend Rob McKellar raced hard and made it all
the way to the Final Round in his '90 Eagle Talon.
Setting the bar high for his peers, Chris Terebecki of Piscataway, New Jersey blasted to
a 10.96-second ET at 138.41 MPH. Chris' 10-second performance landed him and his
'93 Civic in the number-one qualifying position. Following Chris, Steve Jung of Freehold,
New Jersey, charged to the finish line in his '92 Civic to click off an 11.35-second pass
at 126.08 MPH. The underdog Rob McKellar shredded up the 1320 in just
11.47-seconds at 134.26 MPH. Andrea Koury of Evan's Tuning in Easton,
Pennsylvania, joined the field by posting a 12.12-second pass at 131.68 MPH. Andrea's
12-second pass was a success in its own, as she qualified on a set of BFGoodrich
G-Force Drag Radials as the rest of the class utilized slicks.
In the first round of Eliminations, the number-one qualifier, Chris Terebecki, was
taken out of the competition by Rob McKellar. Rob treed Chris with a
.202-second reaction time to Chris' .439-second reaction. The Talon blasted
down the track in 12.17-seconds at 117.46 MPH, while Chris clicked off a
12.09-second ET. Steve Jung secured his spot in the Final round as he posted an
11.59-second pass at 131.75 MPH. Steve's 11-second pass took Andrea Koury out of
the equation as Andrea's Civic went down the track in 12.29-seconds at 132.24 MPH.
The DSport Magazine Pro-Am FWD Class was the most exciting class of the day filled
with 9- and 10-second street cars. The class was led by Maryland's own Jason Hunt in
the Car Doctor Performance '88 Honda CRX with a 9.726ET at 154.65mph. In the
Quarter-Finals, Jason Hunt faced off against Curtis Power's '94 Honda Civic and broke
him off with a 9.879ET. Mat Keller with the Inline Pro '95 Acura Integra was the number
two qualifier for the class. Kellar went head to head with Rob McKellar's '90 Talon.
McKellar's 11.495ET was no match against Kellar's 9.858ET. Rick Everley with his '92
Civic was an underdog coming into the event. Everley was paired up against Charlie
Shaefer's Car Doctor Performance '97 Civic; unfortunately Shaefer had problems and
broke at the line giving the win to Everley, the underdog. Freddy Clark in his '91 CRX
took the win against Matt Curtis and his '94 Integra with an 11.096-second pass.
